About Linda
I have spent years asking a deceptively simple question: What actually helps people change?
I'm Linda Hamilton, CADC, a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Creative Mind Coach, educator, author, speaker, and the creator of Curiosity Rocks™.
My work has grown from years of helping people facing addiction, alcohol and drug concerns, DWI consequences, emotional struggles, difficult life transitions, and deeply learned patterns of behavior.
Again and again I have seen that people often already know what they are supposed to do. The interesting question is: Why does the old behavior still happen?
“Most behavior starts with a prediction, not a choice.”
That question led me deeper into curiosity, present-moment awareness, psychological flexibility, nervous-system responses, learning, prediction, compassion, and the remarkable possibility contained in a pause.
The Work I Do
Addiction & Recovery
I help people look beyond labels and become curious about what their behavior is attempting to accomplish. Instead of beginning with judgment, we begin with awareness.
DWI Education & Counseling
My DWI work explores more than rules and consequences. We examine automatic behavior, prediction, urges, emotional reactions, nervous-system responses, values, responsibility, and the ability to choose again.
Creative Mind Coaching
Creative Mind Coaching helps people move beyond automatic answers and become available to curiosity, wonder, flexibility, insight, and new possibilities.
Training & Education
I develop workshops and educational experiences for counselors, helping professionals, groups, and communities. My teaching brings complex ideas about the brain, behavior, emotions, and change into language people can actually use.
Writing & Curiosity Rocks
Curiosity Rocks brings together reflective questions, experiential practices, cards, workbooks, and teaching tools designed to interrupt automaticity and invite discovery.
Present-Moment Practice
Rather than trying to solve an entire lifetime at once, I often invite people to discover what is needed in this moment. One need. One action. One opportunity to choose again.
Why Curiosity?
When we already believe we know the answer, the mind tends to return to what it has learned before.
But something different happens when we can sincerely say:
“I don't know.”
Not knowing does not have to be frightening. It can become the doorway to curiosity. Curiosity can become wonder. Wonder opens possibility. And an open mind becomes available to receive something it could not see before.
A Different Way of Looking at Change
Fighting with ourselves can become another struggle. Awareness gives us another possibility.
An urge can be noticed without automatically becoming an action.
The pause creates an opportunity for awareness and choice.
Relaxation, compassion, grounding, and present-moment awareness can help create the conditions in which learning becomes possible.
Our thoughts and stories about an experience are not necessarily the experience itself.
An answer learned in the past does not have to become today's action.
What About Emotions?
“Emotions are calling for your attention.”
I invite people to become curious about emotions rather than immediately judging, suppressing, obeying, or fearing them.
An emotion may be the body's way of signaling: “Something needs your attention.”
Instead of asking only, “How do I get rid of this feeling?” we can become curious:
What is happening in my body?
What might this reaction be trying
to protect?
What do I need right now?
The Present Moment Goal
One of the practices I teach is the Present Moment Goal — PMG.
Instead of asking the mind to fix everything at once, we ask:
What do I want to experience right now?
Perhaps the answer is:
“My present moment goal is to be at ease.”
Then we begin here. Pause. Breathe. Notice. Relax. Allow. Choose again.
The ERA Shift Method™
Epiphany → Realization → Actualization
Insight is wonderful, but insight alone is not always change.
An epiphany is the moment something becomes visible. Realization is recognizing what that discovery means. Actualization is bringing the discovery into the way we live.
The discovery becomes most meaningful when it becomes lived experience.

An Invitation
What else might be true?
Curiosity Rocks is not about handing you another collection of answers. It is about helping create the conditions in which you can discover something for yourself.
Pause before the old answer. Notice what your body is telling you. Become curious. Enter wonder. Let the mind open.
You may discover that the answer you need now is not the answer you learned yesterday.
